The Nselweni Bush Camp recently re-built, is sited on a terrace with views overlooking the Black Mfolozi River. This newly renovated bush camp has been built as a joint venture with members of the surrounding local community and funded in part by the Conservation Levy one pays when visiting the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park.
Numerous animals may be seen from the Lodge coming to slake their thirst at the river whilst a troop of baboon seek the safety of the sheer cliffs downstream and on the opposite side of the river for their overnight repose.
Eight two bed brick under canvas accommodation units each have an en-suite shower and toilet as well as their own kitchen. Visitors must bring all food for the meals as well as their drinks.
The water at Nselweni Bush Camp is temporarily not fit for drinking. Please bring your own drinking water.
Limited supplies of food and drink can be purchased at the shop at Mpila Camp which is a half hours drive away. Stocks not reliable! Checking in to Nselweni is done at Mpila Camp.
Power is from solar charged batteries for the fans and lighting whilst the fridges and stove utilize gas. There is a central ‘conference’ facility with kitchen. This may be used by larger groups staying at Nselweni Camp as a central cooking and dining area. All cooking will needs be done by visitors.
Please note that this bush camp is not fenced other than for an electrified elephant wire and dangerous animals may enter the area, so one should be aware of this, especially during the night. We suggest that you bring torches. Hyena in the evenings and monkeys and baboon scavenging during the day can be a nuisance. Do not feed any of the animals.
